Studio Etiquitte
Be PreparedClothing--Wear comfy, stretchy clothes you can move and bend in. A shirt that is fitted, or long enough to be tucked in will help you to feel covered and comfortable. We practice barefoot.
What to bring--Bring a yoga mat, water bottle and hand towel. We have a few mats to loan out, and we have quality mats for sale in the studio. Other props such as blankets, blocks and straps are provided—but if you have your own you are welcome to bring them. Saucha (Living Purely)--Saucha involves maintaining cleanliness. Please bathe and use deodorant before coming to class. Also avoid using fragrance, which can be irritating to sensitive noses. If you are not feeling well, please stay home and rest. This is for you own good, and especially the health of your fellow yogis. Happy Tummy--Avoid eating a full meal 2-3 hours before class. However, you don’t want to be hungry and thinking of food the whole time either. You might eat a healthy snack an hour or two before class, to fuel your body and mind. No Gum Chewing - Please refrain from chewing gum in the studio. Gum inhibits your ability to practice pranayama (breathing) and could potentially leave a mess in the studio. |
Once You ArriveWhere to Park - Yogis may park on the West side of the building. Parking spaces in front of Unit A are reserved for our downstairs neighbors.
When to Arrive - The studio opens 15 minutes before class begins. Arriving no sooner than this will allow your teacher time to setup and prepare for class. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class, so you can settle in before class begins. We are careful to start and end class on time, because we know your time is precious! If you are running late, we welcome you to enter quietly and join us. We understand the occasional delay, and don’t want you to be stressed about getting to your relaxing class! However, if you are habitually late we will kindly ask you to change your habits. Sign in - Please check-in at the front desk as soon as you arrive. Quiet Time - As you arrive, please silence your cell phone.(Vibrate off, too.) If you forget, we forgive you! (But please turn it off right away to avoid further interruptions.) Keep it Clean - Please remove shoes as soon as you enter the studio. A bench is provided in case you need to sit to remove shoes. Shoes should never be worn in the practice area. Cubbies are provided for personal items. Please use them, so the practice area has plenty of room for students, mats and props. |

These tips are intended to help everyone have a pleasant experience. When distractions occur, it is an opportunity to practice Pratyahara—turning senses inward.
